Overview

The Hydrasonic S8 Threaded is a static ultrasonic BTU (thermal energy) meter for billing heating and cooling energy in apartments, villas and light commercial systems, using transit-time flow measurement with PT1000 temperature sensing. This compact threaded variant covers DN15 to DN40 with nominal flows (qp) from 1.5 up to 10 m³/h, in compliance with MID-EN1434 at accuracy Class 2.

A wide 1:100 dynamic range (qp/qi) lets a single meter cover diverse loads accurately, and the flow sensor installs in any position with no straight-run requirements for easy retrofit. The flow sensor is rated IP68 while the removable calculator is IP66 (IP67 optional), with a resolvable starting temperature difference of ΔΘ 0.125 K and 2-second volume and power calculation cycles.

Connectivity covers an optical (ZVEI) interface, M-Bus per EN13757-3 and Wireless M-Bus per EN13757-4 for AMI integration, with an 8-digit LCD and 36 months of monthly logged energy, volume and error-hour data. Field-replaceable battery and temperature sensors keep maintenance simple, with battery life of up to 13 years under standard conditions.
